Starter Pimple Treatment?

Anonymous
My 4th grader is ready for her first zit cream (or something). I'll appreciate suggestions from those who have been through this more recently than my own adolescence. DD is getting individual large-ish pimples in the nose/chin area, mostly with white heads, but the rest of her skin is still (almost) baby smooth. A couple of weeks of overall cleaning with a salicylic acid medicine- impregnated pad from Neutrogena doesn't seem to have helped, but I'm reluctant to escalate the assault more than is necessary at this point. What has helped for your kids?

Purpose soap (comes in a bar and in a pump liquid), and a spot treatment of Benzol Peroxide. Also, to let her know that touching her face can make them worse (leaning on her hand during class, ect.). If this doesn't seem stong enough you can use a benzol Peroxide wash but it is quite drying so she will probably need a good moisturizer if she needs to go that route (which usually happens as they get older). Cetaphiil makes a good mosturizer for this purpose. Personally I would start with the Purpose soup twice a day and the spot treatment and see what happens, if it is anything like my DD she will need to escalate the routine as she gets older. Hope this helps.

Thank you! I picked up a Purpose pump and B/P spot treatment this evening. That sounds like a sensible, conservative way to get started.
