We need an extra car seat for DS who is turning 5 this weekend. He is tall (not sure exact height?) and 42 lbs. Our Evenflo harnessed booster only goes up to 50 lbs so I'm looking for something that goes to 65 lbs but isn't $$$. Any suggestions? |
Not sure what your idea of $$$ is but we have the Britax Frontier. Our tall skinny 5 year old is still harnessed and seems comfortable. It looks like it goes all the way up to 95 lbs. in harness mode. |

We got this and it'll basically last him forever.

Graco nautilus |
Or graco transitions. |
Thanks - I was leaning towards this one. It's hard to explain, but our current Evenflo seat has this really easy latch thing versus the clips, does this seat have the same things? |
Chicco MyFit. My DD is extremely tall and I found that there were only 3 seats that accommodated her height; this one was the narrowest profile.
She is over 4 ft and still fits the harness. |
regular backless booster at that age and weight |
Get a booster seat with a back on it. He can sit in the one you have for a few more months if he is 8lbs under the limit still. |
I would not put a 42lb child in a backless booster. He is too small. Car seat tech. |
Diono Radian (look for discontinued colors or last year's model to pay less on sites like Albee Baby) |
Depending on the kid's height, may not be good. This carseat was great for us for extended RF, but my kid outgrew the FF position on it at about 4.5 years old, and she was much too small for the seat in booster mode with carseat straps instead of harness. The height of carseat doesn't extend, like the Chicco Myfit and others do. |
Sorry to be Debbie Downer, but I recently read this and have zero trust in Evenflo.
