Petitioning for out of boundary school

I am sure this has been covered before.

We would like to petition for our son to attend a school out of boundary, but actually closer to our house (a different cluster).

How does this work? What is the timing? If anyone reading this is truly "in the know" what are the reasons people's requests are accepted?

If it is in Montgomery County, you need to complete a Change of School Assignment (COSA) Form between Feb 2 and April 1 http://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/info/transfers/

What do they mean by "documented unique hardship"? How do you go about "proving" that?

You probably need to research what constitutes unique hardship, but the other school being closer to your house won't cut it.

Unless you have a very pressing need, my understanding it that you won't be allowed to do this in the vast majority of cases.
