I breastfed 2 kids each for a little over a year and weaned my second DS over 2.5 years ago. My breasts were pretty "deflated" but suddenly over the past few days they've felt full and heavy. I'm not pregnant (at least I hope I'm not, I have an IUD and my husband had a vasectomy!) and I guess it could be some weight gain, but I don't think so. Anyone else have fullness come back to their breasts?
Yes mine definitely plumped back up. Have you been ovulating since you weaned?
Mine came back about 2 years after weaning the first one. They were a cup size bigger than before oregnancy and started to regain some fullness. Of course then I had another kid and now nursing. We willl see how that ends.
Where are you in your cycle? If you're in your luteal phase (between ovulation and your period starting), the progesterone could be making your breasts feel full. If you have a Mirena, you may not ovulate regularly, so wouldn't have the monthly hormone fluctuations.
I don't get an actual period since I have the Mirena so I don't have a normal cycle. This feeling just hasn't happened in the almost 3 years I've had the IUD so it is a strange feeling. And before I got the IUD I was either pregnant or nursing for like 4 years so I forget what "normal" feels like!
How old are you? Mine feel that way as I’m entering peri menopause.
I’m 36 |
See your gynocologist and get an exam and see if you need scans.
Makes sense that they're perking back up. I've inquired about a boob job and a plastic surgeon won't operate until 2+ years after weaning last baby because boobs go back to normal.
