| This may not be the right forum, but I’m looking for LGBTQ-friendly books that would be appropriate for a 4 year old. Ideally books that depict characters in gay/lesbian/queer relationships, not necessarily “message” books. We talk about all different kinds of families but it would be helpful to read some stories that contain them as well. Thank you! |

My 5 year old son likes Zach’s Safari

We used this in addition to kid's book "What Makes a Baby" to explain to our son that he was the product of IVF/a known donor. It was super effective. Other books we enjoy: Heather Has Two Moms, The Family Book (Todd Parr), Mommy, Mama, and Me, The Different Dragon |
| My daughter's favorite at that age was Stella Brings the Family |

Good on you, PP! I'm the poster who read her son Zak's Safari and What Makes a Baby. He was 5 at the time and about to start kindergarten. He got it completely, and it was also a non-event afterwards. |
