| Anyone have personal experience with these two cars or knowledgeable about how they go head-to-head? I liked the MDX when I test drove it. However, it is EXTREMELY popular where I live (not in dmv)and it’s a bit bland looking. The Infiniti is pretty stylish, but I’m concerned about its reliability etc. I have not yet driven it, but plan to soon. A local dealership has a burgundy 2019 qX60 “Luxe” for 39k , which is in my target price range. I have kids and will be using the third row from time to time. Thank you. |

MDX is the better car. QX60 has poor reliability and is basically a Nissan Pathfinder.
Style is subjective, but in this category it seems like a moot point. Both give off the "soccer mom that's too cool/snobby for a Highlander or minivan" vibe. |
Yes, I have a Highlander now. I’ve driven it for a long time and I’m looking for something different. |
| Out of the two, I'd pick MDX. The popularity is due to its mix of good comfort/features and price. You are not going to get much exclusivity in this price range. |
Consumer reports has the MDX at terrible reliability. I would stay away, and I wouldn't get an infiniti either. Nissan is also terrible. |
| Both have poor reliability. Highlander ftw. |

The need for third row seats is complicating matters. Not many near-lux SUVs with 3rd row seats in the 40-50k price range. Maybe extend your budget for an Audi Q7? Or maybe a loaded Mazda CX-9.
I'd definitely pick either of these two cars over the MDX or Infinity. |
Thanks, the Mazda might be something to consider. I saw another OP pleased with their purchase. I believe a Q7 is 60k+. I’m in the $40-$45k range, and will keep it for a long time, so I’m looking for something I’ll really enjoy. I’m also considering NOT getting a third row. Maybe a wagon. |
