If you sent your teen to rehab for marijuana do they hate you ?

I’m just curious what it’s like and what to expect.

No matter how bad it is it’ll be worth it in the long run plus he’ll appreciate it some day, only he might not say it. And yes, I realize pot isn’t the biggest deal or most dangerous habit but it certainly leads to more negative life issues. Most higher functioning, non-drug using adults have a poor opinion of pot heads, most just might not admit it.

I’m curious where you are considering?

Do they hate you? That should be the least of your concerns.

Listen, I’m just trying to prepare myself. I have a complicated relationship with my child, and yes I’m pretty certain I’m co-dependent. So please don’t be snarky and understand that I’m a mom wanting yo do what’s best and a little unsure what that is. Marijuana is a tough one re rehab as statistics are poor for it working and it’s very expensive. In addition they can get exposed to harder drug users. However, we have to do something and nothing is working while he’s here and in same social scene.

Thanks not sure yet. Just starting to work with a consultant (School Counseling Group) to help with potential placement

It was not the only reason I sent my son but it played a part. No he doesn’t hate us. Our relationships are better within the family since he returned.

I didn’t find that my son was introduced to other drugs at any of his hospitalizations or residential stays. That all happened at his HS. One of the things you’ll find is that if you’re looking for residential treatment, there isn’t anything local. So your son isn’t going to be making friends.

Where did your son go and for how long?

I don't think I would send my kid to rehab over pot but I don't know OP's kid.

What would make me take serious pause is that rehab does not work unless the kid wants to make a change.

I think most of them cost about $1000 a day. So expensive for questionable results.

Honestly, I'm glad you realize this because the very question shows that you came here focused more on what his situation means for you than for him.

How old is your son?

How are his grades?

How is his general behavior outside of smoking weed?

Just wanted to wish you luck, OP. Sending hugs.
