Childcare/nanny cost in Arlington for twins?

Anonymous
Hi everyone,

Not sure if this is the right place to post, but I was hoping you could help out with childcare cost estimates. I’m a FTM pregnant with twins and due at the end of July (but will most likely be here end of June/early July if we make it that long). I’m a teacher and my husband is an attorney in DC—I’ll be taking FMLA and won’t return to work until around November.

If you have twins, or know someone who does, can you throw me a ballpark number for what you pay for daycare or nanny/nanny share? We’re in N. Arlington and as first time parents have no idea what to expect cost wise except “a lot”! Thanks in advance for your help!

$25/hour plus OT over 40 hours.

I’d budget $5000 a month for everything.

Thanks! Is that daycare or nanny? Also, per child?

For both with diapers.

$25 to 30 an hour for twins. Don’t go over 40 hours a week or nine hours a day to avoid overtime.

Number of hours per day doesn’t matter in Virginia as long as they stay under 40 hours per week.

Op, join MONA. That’s a better place to ask. DCUM doesn’t know.

$30 per hour is insane. Ask MONA. I don’t know what the going rate is for twins but much less than $30 per hour.

Yes OP if you are in north Arlington join MONA right away and you will get a lot of good advice

Definitely join MONA. You will maybe get away with $23/hour, but not if you won’t pay overtime.

Are you sure about hours per day? I honestly am not sure but I think this recently changed.

What does daycare charge for two infants? Do they discount if they’re twins?

Honest question.

Do you work for APS? You can look into The Children's School
