Taxis and car seats?

Hi- I dont live in DC anymore and when I did, I drove or walked everywhere and never had a need for taxi with kids. But my friend from out of state is visiting DC and has young kids, one of which is a baby. She asked if she needs to bring carseat for cabs? Wondering if anyone here knows?! Thanks!

Yes. You can sometimes order ubers with carseats but they’re going to be some random size.

No, it's not required.

Cabs are exempt from the car seat requirements, but not Uber/Lyft. Obviously, she might want to bring one for safety reasons.

This is true, but it’s not like a cab is magically safer, and you g children should always be in a car seat.

Don't all Uber Family vehicles have the Immi Go seat? It's very safe and my son used one once to get to an airport when he was 18 months.
It definitely fits bigger kids, not sure about anything smaller than 18 months.
