Had my first IUI yesterday and expected some spotting but it was a lot heavier—bright red with dark clots, some pink mucus-y. It continued a little today. The same thing happened after my HSG—I basically had a full period. I figure there’s nothing the RE can really do for the IUI cycle but I’m just curious if there’s something about an invasive procedure that causes this. Anyone experience the same or know?
I bleed every time I have my yearly checkup, and bled for a few days after my saline sono. Apparently my cervix has a fleshy part exposed that usually isn't in most people, so it bleeds very easily. I was told it was nothing to worry about (but for me it's usually more on the pink side, not heavy red bleeding). Do you think it could be something like that for you?
Def. mention to your RE. I haven't heard of this happening after an IUI.
I’ve never heard of this either. Sounds like a period.
Were the procedures painful when the cervical catheter was placed or difficult for them to get the catheter in? I have cervical stenosis (“pinhole cervix”) where the opening is very small and bleeding is always an issue during procedures. Sucks but doesn’t have an impact on fertility.
OP here. I’ve never been told I have anything abnormal going on and neither procedure was painful or with complications. It’s almost like my cervix/uterus is super sensitive and responds by going haywire. I will mention it to RE and see what he says.
