We find ourselves in need of a midyear change. Variety of reasons. Junior year. Anyone done this? Currently VA public school. What privates do this late? Or fusion? Or international? All ideas welcome.
It’s going to be tough if not impossible to get into a private school mid-junior year.
I don’t know, obviously, what’s going on. But would a switch to a different public school help? If not, post in the private school forum. Folks there will have ideas. The big schools don’t take people. But newer smaller schools might. Fusion Academy, like you mentioned. Templeton Academy. Emerson Prep.Maybe Washington Waldorf if it’s not too far.
Fusion might work. But based on my search over the past two months no one is admitting mid year. Is there an IEP and could that help get a change.
Have you looked into parochial schools? Some have rolling admissions.
No experience with my own kids, but I moved from a local public school to Paul VI Caltholic school 2nd semester junior year. It was much easier than I expected it to be - the kids were curious about me so it was pretty easy to make new friends. It also felt like a clean start, which I needed at the time, so it helped make things easier. The move was my choice, but if this is not your DC choice you'll likely have a more difficult time. Good luck!
Don’t know your DC’s circumstances but Parkmont School in DC has rolling admissions. Our DC has really thrived there.
