Anyone know of any in the area? I would love to learn more about Indian cooking in particular but not too fussy. I am a fairly good home cook but want to expand my knowledge and particularly love eating Indian food! Thai also.
Thanks for any info. |

A foodie friend likes the classes here: http://www.lacademie.com/Recreation/RecreationalHome.aspx
WaPo did an article on new cooking schools in March: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/03/10/AR2009031001391.html |
| We bought a gift certificate to Cookology for my MIL for Christmas. The owner was really friendly, but I can't speak to the quality of instruction, as my MIL hasn't gone yet. |
| I took a private class from Chef Scott Ryan [www.ChefScottRyan.com] and highly recommend him. He specializes in Indian, North African and Spanish cuisines, and also offers some Asian classes too. There's a whole list on his website, but you can make up your own and he will shape it to what you want and when you want. Just a side note, he's a really good instructor and is all about techniques. I have never had anyone explain things as clearly as he does. Five stars. His number is 301-512-1232 |
| Thanks for the posts and the links, numbers etc. Hopefully soon, I won't have to rely on restaurants for good ethnic food! |
| Lebanese Taverna has great classes |

This is not class recommendation, but I have become a pretty good Indian food cook and I started with this book. http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/0517596989/ref=dp_olp_used?ie=UTF8&qid=1263664452&sr=1-12&condition=used
I also have her "Step by Step Cooking". |
