Franconia Elementary (Alexandria/Kingstowne)

My family is relocating to NOVA; we will be settling in Kingstowne and the local elementary school is Franconia. Does anyone have opinions, ideas, etc. about this school? I've searched the FCPS and school websites, but I still can't get a good 'feel' for the school or its reputation from just the numbers. I did read that the modified calendar will be ending during the 2010-2011 school year in order to accommodate the renovation schedule.

Is it a welcoming school, do the teachers/administrators seem involved and caring, what does the school 'community' feel like, etc.? This is the type of (subjective) information I'm seeking.

I know a lot of parents whose kids go to Franconia (we're in the next district, Rose Hill) and they've been very happy there. My DH also grew up in Rose Hill and the whole area here has always been nice. Welcome to the neighborhood!
