One of the main teachers in my DS' class is leaving. DS has only been at this daycare for 3 months (used to have a nanny), but this teacher has been truly amazing at helping him get adjusted, and I want her to know she is appreciated. We feel particularly sad because she has been with the daycare for such a long time now - seems like there are some administration problems that are causing her to leave. Anyway, I know the answer is often "cash" and I'm happy to give that, but it seems like an odd going away present. |
Yeah I’m having the same issue
I don’t know what exactly to purchase |
A gift card is slightly more personal than cash and will be appreciated. Amazon would be great. |
We do gift baskets for our daycare teachers with a couple of gift cards, some treats and a card (this is coordinated with other parents) |
She is leaving mid year due to admin problems? That doesn’t sound like a committed teacher to me. How do you leave your kids mid year and say you care about them? You are a teacher. This isn’t Starbucks where you are giving coffee cups to people. These are kids with little hearts that love fully. No reason for her to leave except her own self. I bet if you dig with admin, you will find that out. In any event, a small gift card would be fine. |
Flowers and cash/gift card. |
Flowers and a card. |
Teaching is no different than any other job. They have to lookout for themselves too and don't have to stay employed somewhere they are unhappy just for the kids. |
+1 You sound weirdly entitled, PP. |
Daycare doesn't have a mid-year the way a school does. |
There are many reasons a teacher might be leaving, like moving. It could be that working there is a nightmare. Don’t judge unless you know. Did you ask her why she is leaving? |
