Little Folks

got letter saying class was full....is it worth it to get on waiting list or just move on?
Anonymous
It's a great school and the waiting list will probably move once the acceptance letters from elementary schools are received by current families- I'd say definitely get on the list.

I got into SfF on the wait list a week before school started - so I am a HUGE advocate of waitlists, especially for preschool. Things change quickly, families move, etc... just make plans to go elsewhere and if you get in make a quick switch.

so did any new families get in?

We are a new family who just received a letter of admission. Given what I understood to be a limited number of slots for new families, I am very surprised.

we are also a new family who got in. have no idea about number of slots, etc.

We are a third family whose child was just admitted. We're happily surprised.

We are a fourth family - also happily surprised.

To the families who were admitted, do any of you live in Virginia?

No, DC.

If given the choice between Little Folks and NCRC, which would you choose? Thank you.

NCRC - at least it is accredited! It also has a better reputation overall

Very different schools!

Both have excellent, experienced faculty and good reputation
Both have excellent placement records
LFS parent body is very warm, enthusiastic, welcoming - don't know about NCRC.
NCRC is big, LFS small with more of a community feeling. At LFS all of the kids know one another.
NCRC has more resources for dealing with any disabilities or delays.
NCRC is going through construction which will be annoying / inconvenient this year.
NCRC does much more testing and is closer to an "academic" school; LFS is more play-based.
Although they are not far apart, the schools are not convenient to one another, so one of them must be easier for you to get to- that counts for a lot.
Most families new to NCRC are offered an afternoon spot and most LFS are offered a full day slot (though they don't mind if you pick up at noon)- which works better for you?
The playdates are VERY different - which one set you and your child more at ease?

So am i the only new family who did not get a spot at LFS? Sounds like quite a few new families did.

I'm not concerned with accreditation. I just searched the archives for Little Folks and saw that this had come up before, repeatedly, by one poster.
