| My son is a sophomore so he still has time before college admissions. He has gpa of around 3.5 weighted and is at an all boy’s school similar to St. John’s in DC (we used to live in DC but not anymore). He is very bright but he has ADHD and since he has been growing like crazy, it’s hard to get his meds right. He is starting an afternoon booster soon so I hope that helps with focus for studying. Anyway, just wondering what schools are out there for kids like him. He is in 3 honors courses this year and was in 3 last year. He didn’t take the PSAT this fall because he had a terrible stomach bug. Where do your B student end up? I just started reading this forum and wanted to know where your B student went (and liked). Thanks! |
| There are tons of options as long as you have the $ to pay. |
| What are your in-state options. Start there. |
| Mine went to a top 50 school -- if SATs are good, look at schools that put more emphasis on that. |
Not really. I’ll need FA. Single parent teacher here. |

This thread from September (titled "the normal kid") will have some ideas.
https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/830838.page It also has the usual amount of haters as any other DCUM thread |
| Extraordinarily dependent on what the ACT/SAT scores end up being. |
How do you know which schools put more emphasis on test scores? |
OP here. Thanks for this! We live in MD and my cousins loves St. Mary’s. Beautiful campus. My son took honors Latin as a freshman and he ended up with a low C which wrecked his gpa. He switched to Spanish and is doing much better now. |
| Join college confidential. There are some good threads on this topic. But generally: Fordham, Elon, Miami of Ohio, Fairfield, St. Joe’s, Dayton, etc. |
| An all boy's high school can't be very similar to coed st john's |
I meant that it is run by the Christian Brothers. |
| Towson. Pitt. Morgan. |
| Temple, Drexel, Wooster, OWU, VCU |
| 1000 schools. seriously. |
