Visiting old in-home?

Anonymous
We just loved my two year old to preschool from his beloved in-home. He keeps asking for his old providers and friends. His transition to preschool has gone pretty well but he still cries daily at drop off (three weeks in).

I am considering taking him to visit the in home on a Friday afternoon but I don’t want to interfere with his transition to preschool. Thoughts?

Ask them to send you a little video of them saying Hi Larlo, we miss you and love you! Or even just a little picture of them waving or smiling.

I wouldn't take him to visit just yet. That may confuse him. Crying at drop off is really really normal. It's hard to separate from mom or dad! We read a lot of "Llama llama misses Mama" at this transition.

Do not take him to visit. It will be confusing for him and stressful for you. If he is missing his old friends, get in touch with their parents and have them come over to your house or meet at their house or a neutral location. Do not go back to the old daycare until your son is comfortable in the new preschool. I think for my DD, it took about 6 months before I thought she was ready and by then, she had stopped asking to go back.

Are you allowed to go visit your previous place? Are people not enrolled allowed to go hang out?

For a bit and with the kid’s adult to maintain ratio, I am sure it would be fine from the providers’ standpoint. Op here

We had our provider babysit occasionally, and still took our little one there on school holidays.
