eating

It takes an hour for my 5 year old child to eat 2 slices of bread and bread is his favorite food. What can I do to help it? same with other foods, he just sits there and looks around.

Just schedule time for his slow eating. Eating slowly is healthy. Don’t stress him out by trying to get him to hurry.

Is he in kindergarten yet? I hear that lunch hour is like 20 mins something like that for K in Montgomery county.

My niece is like this, not sure what her mom does but when I have her, I need to constantly remind her to take a bite. She's a good eater, just isn't mindful when she's eating.

he doesn't eat slow, he is too distracted to eat. Same with lunch dinner, if he is eating cookies, he eats in a second but everything else he just looks around.

op here: yes the constant reminder, eat it, one minute later eat it please.

Use a visual timer. Set it for 5 minutes and give 1/4 of a piece of bread. Whatever is left at the end of the 5 minutes gets left for later. You can do it once an hour, and your child will gradually get used to actually focusing on eating.

Oh, and no talking, no reminders while the timer runs.
