| Mal Pugh, who gave up college soccer to become a professional soccer player, was left off of the Olympic roster. The best thing Spirit did for her was trade her. I hope Sky Blue FC can get her back on track. |
| Hmmmm |
| She has skills but sometimes her vision is not there. Good trade for the spirit. |
terrible trade |
| another example of a young player falling in love with the fame and out of love with the game that got them to the fame. |
|
Mallory Pugh on the Spirit dribbles into the corner at 18 and then tries to turn the corner too much
She will improve over time. Perhaps quickly The Spirit system seemed to encourage many players to attackers the deep wings and cross. Lavalle is better and looks better because she attacks and plays the middle Mallory is a player that wants to go forward and attack. On the USWNT she is stuck behind Rapinoe and others. She is an example at a high level of a player who could make the USWNT and start regularly if she could play another position at elite level. |
| Spirit and the WNT should have invested more in developing her. This is as much on them. The truth is, she was actually a more dynamic player before Spirit. That training environment didn't do anything for her. |
Fame? I don’t think so. |
| She will be fine. She's still way ahead of everyone else her age |
Wash Spirit is in need of a huge rehaul. Hopefully this year and these players will help. It's just not a great program. That's why all the sad faces at the draft. |
100 % the fame. She is dating a big time MLB player with the Braves. She has used off her good looks for a few endorsement ads. etc. Her sister is married to another pro athlete so they almost fall into the "Jersey/cleat Chaser category. |
There are a few quite others a head of her beside Rapinoe(who is way over the hill). She just has not done much. She did get injured in her first year right? |
Agreed, it's not. I hope Sky Blue FC turns it around for her. She probably should have gone to Europe instead. Longer seasons, better coaching |
| Interested to see what Mal says about the spirit experience |
That's a little judgement and unfair. It could also be that two passionate athletes have that in common. |
