I know we'll see for ourselves next week, but I'm wondering if there's a format to those events. Do parents/kids just roam the school hallways? Does everyone gather up in the cafeteria and the principal gives a speech? Is there a presentation, kinda like they did for the magnet info sessions? How long does the event last?
Just curious. |
| Roughly an hour with several scheduled activities. No roaming. |
Do they actually check the invitations? We're good, not need to crash the party, but I'm still wondering.
|
Nope. |
| The kids are separated from the parents for a tour and to meet current students at TPMS. I’m not certain but assumed there would be a check in process. |
| OP here. Thanks! |
| Someone in a previous thread said there was a list of accepted kids. This is why I believe the open houses are only for those who received a flyer in their letter. |
| What are some good things to ask and look for? We're going to the TPMS open house. What I'd really love is to see the teachers in action and look at a bunch of the work, and hear a real description of the social experience for the magnet kids. |
Well, you won't be able to see anyone 'in action' at 7 pm.. I'd say the best way to find out the ins and outs would be to talk to a current student. Do you know anybody whose child attends TPMS? |
You can certainly see how the teachers interact with the students: who is enthusiastic, warm, a bit quirky themselves and who is not engaging, overly serious, or too awkward. |
So the teachers will be there? |
The magnet teachers will. |
I don’t. :-/ |
Current students will be there. |
| Do waitlisted kids attend the open houses, or just admitted kids? |
