DC Defenders/ XFL

I'm genuinely curious why they think THIS TIME IT WILL WORK with a Spring football league...

What's the word on the Defenders? I know Cardale Jones (ex-Ohio State) is the QB but don't know much more.

XFL lasted only one season a decade or so ago. The league they tried last year failed midway through. The USFL didn't last particularly long. Is there something about the business model for this XFL 2.0 that signals success?

They are banking on Trump supporters and anti-Kaeppernick sentiment. Trump has trashed the NFL at every chance (he's had an ax to grind with them ever since they blocked him from buying into a franchise decades ago), and the McMahons are tight with trump, so they want to capitalize on the negative NFL press thats grown out there...

Huh - the commissioner is Andrew Luck’s father. Weird considering Andrew retired from football so young.

LOTS of tickets still available for the opening game. Not a good sign.
Not sure why they think it'll succeed. Can't imagine it will.
Although as a DC guy, it's nice to have a local pro team I don't feel bad about supporting.

I love football but its too cold to be outside watching a game. Even if it was $5 its too cold to have my kids at a game.

We went to the game. Don't know how many tickets were unsold, but it seemed well attended. Enthusiastic crowd.

Missed this but happened upon the Tampa-New York game on TV. It looked well-attended and that was at MetLife where the Giants play - much bigger than Audi Field.

We are going to one in March. It’s something to do, less expensive than the NFL so why not? The kids are excited.
