How does the magnet middle school waitlist work?

How many kids have been put on the list? What’s the chance to get in? It should be more complicated than CES-

Some kids get two invitations and will free up at least one;

Some kids got one, but may chose not to go;

Some kids who are not on the list may appeal to get in.

You should call MCPS.
Ask how many are on the list for whatever school you care about and how many kids got invited to 2 schools this year.
They will have a meeting in March (double check?) and if there are open spots they will study the wait list and pick new kids to give offers to for round 2.
It's not lottery. It's not ranked.
