Where to get girl’s haircut in NW DC?

Anonymous
I’m looking for a good place to cut my 7 year old’s hair. She has wavy/loose curls. She’s outgrown toddler/little kid places, so we need a place that will accept kids but is not specifically for kids. Suggestions?

You can take her virtually anywhere. Try wherever you get your hair cut.

OP here. I get my haircut somewhere inconvenient (close to where we used to live). I'll probably leave that place soon, so I'd rather not start schlep my kid there.

Any suggestions for a place in NW DC that's good with kids? She's easy--not nervous about the haircut. She just wants a place where it's not weird to bring a kid, but is not specifically for babies. I want a place that will give her a decent cut.

we don’t live in DC anymore but when we did (a few years ago) I really liked Salon familia (near Chevy Chase circle) for my daughter.

Love Karla at Kidville but hard to get an appointment unless you book far out.

Was going to suggest the same place! And it is now woman and minority owned by two really lovely women so I’m even more pleased to recommend it!

I know the Bang Salon chains will cut kid's hair, in case you are closer to downtown

I think any salon is fine- why would it be weird to take a kid? I have seen kids in my salon and don't think it is weird.

Take her to Supercuts on Wisc. Ave if you are in Tenleytown area.

NP. This sounds great, how much is a kid’s cut?

This is not meant to sound snarky, but what about DIY? I've been cutting both kids hair (including daughter with wavy hair), and it comes out great. Got a good but cheap scissors on amazon, talked to my hair dresser about what to do, and watched a lot of videos. I let them watch netflix on my laptop while cutting hair. Saves a lot of $ too!

Take her where you get your hair cut? Many stylists give a steep kids discount that they don’t publicize. My stylist cuts my kids hair - we both have shoulder length curls and get Diva Curl cuts - for less than 1/2 what she charges me. Can’t be scheduled online though, because it’s only for children of existing clients. My last stylist did the same.

Isn’t that in Bethesda and not NWDC?

PP - pretty sure it was $20 for my two year old!

I love Celia's Salon on MacArthur Blvd in the Palisades. George is the main kid hair cutter but everyone there is great.
