Can DC United have a DA for Girls?

Anonymous
is it possible? or is it only NWSL that can have girls DA?

They could. La Galaxy has one. But DCU is too cheap to even fully fund their boys’ DA, and they actually do sign some of their academy players to the first team. No chance they’d fund a girls one.

And they weren't even always fully funded for the boys. They are running the portion they are because of pressure from USSF.

just as much as Metro United needs a boys DA

Oh yeah sure, since they did such a wonderful job before. By all means, let's let them have another go.

What I meant is that DC United is a Men's MLS club. The women have their own pro soccer league and their academy teams should come out of their professional league. I really don't know what you think will be any different if DCU was to run the women's club vs Spirit.

The "women's side" needs to pair up with the men's side, or it will never be successful. People just don't put the same money or interest into women's sports, even when the women's side has produced more.

So if the NWSL is to ever be successful, it can't stand alone. Look at Portland Thorns' success versus the now gone Boston Breakers? Or what a failure Spirit has been?
