Why aren't threads about baby names...

...removed from General Parenting Discussion and more appropriately listed in Expectant Moms.

In other words, in the last week, GPD has a rash of parents who want advice about baby names. I feel the audience who most cares about this are other expecting parents. I think the GPD, which is really active and whose posts roll very quickly off the first few pages, might be better served for questions about baby and child behavior and care.

TIA for considering this.

I personally don't understand the fixation on baby names that seems to have overtaken DCUM. To me, names are a personal matter and I couldn't care less what others think of the names we choose for our kids. But, people can discuss whatever they want (and I am still entitled to be driven crazy by it). I don't really know which forum is best for the topic. It's true that those most interested in baby's names are expectant mothers. However, as a topic, it is an issue that is likely of interest to a wider audience. I'll keep an eye on things and consider moving the topics to another forum.

Keep in mind that the GPD tends to include women who are already parents, and have therefore named their children. Expectant moms tend to be new moms, who haven't named anyone yet. So a name discussion (and I agree I do not see the fascination), is appropriate for the GPD.
