Which club would you add/take off ECNL/DA list

our area is diluted with "elite" leagues and players. Who do you feel needs go?

for starters BRYC needs to go. Reason.. do I really need one? why are they even ECNL?

loudoun has to go they keep trying to steal FCV players.

FCV can stay they have a great history of making good players

I'll add Alexandria to ECNL boys to fight United DA. Alexandria has a good history of developing players

DA is about developing players, so no need to reduce the number of clubs. Throw a wide net.

It’s not really about being on the top team in the age group. Its about the 2-3 top players on the team.

We don't need to reduce the number of clubs, but repiroritizing would change the dynamic. Eventually the ECNL will become a feeder for the DA, though that may be a couple of years away. When it does, the dilution problem will resolve.

DA, ECNL, etc, etc. - all biz. go pro or go home. A true talent of which there are 2-3 per age group, not per team, or club, or league, will do their thing regardless of which one they pick. The cream will rise. Which leagues makes no difference at all.

would it be easier or harder for the director to skim money if they were DA? they would have to raise there already high price and still tell people they're getting a good "deal"

Why doesn't US Soccer rack and stack all the leagues top to bottom and use promotion/relegation.

I don't care which is on top, DA or ECNL, but if you finish in the bottom 3, the next league down gets to top 3 teams promoted.

Something to that effect. So in our area...

EDP
CCL
ECNL Regional
....

US Soccer doesn’t care about the other leagues. They care about the DA being the top dog and will structure incentives so that happens (if not now, eventually). Over time, I suspect you will have DA on top, ECNL second, and what ever else is left grouped into the travel/high school/rec pool. The real question is how long it will take parents and kids to figure out that if you aren’t in the top two options, you should just play in the lowest cost, closest option. If we just got rid of all the other BS ‘travel’ leagues, we’d probably have happier and wealthier families.
