We're planning a late February trip with our 28 month old and seven month old daughters. Any first hand experience with Azul Beach Resort (http://www.karismahotels.com/resort/azul-beach-hotel-karisma) or Paradisus (http://www.paradisus-riviera-cancun.com/). Both are about 20 minutes from the airport. Wondering about room size, food, childcare, restaurant hours, etc. Would appreciate first hand experience with either. Thanks!

We stayed at Paradisus with our child - it is family friendly and has a nice kid's club with activities (I think there is a minimum age for the activities). The only issues were: the food was average and service was slow. It is all-inclusive, but you have to make reservations at most restaurants to get in, and the food is just not worth all of the time it takes to sit through dinner with a toddler. We went to the buffet a lot, which was good food, but got boring after a few days.

If you are willing to go further south stay at Barcelo Mayan Palace...great spray park right on the beach. My 3 year old son loved it. Very family friendly. GREAT food for all inclusive. Lots to do. Rooms very luxurious and spacious. Nice white sand, calm water mostly.
I've stayed at the Azul. Nice property, good size rooms, food average, service slow (but friendly). I would recommend it. If you do decide to stay there a word of caution - use the safe! I stupidly left money in my suitcase unlocked and it was stolen. Lesson learned.

We stayed at Azul with our 1.5 year old daughter. It was really great. I was a little nervous about the daycare b/c I'm was being a paranoid mom and we were in a foreign country however, after being there a couple days and getting to know the staff and the high caliber of service, I realized that everything was probably fine.
It's gourmet food resort and I'd say the food was really very good. We enjoyed it and they always cooked our daughters food to order. Plus, since it was All-Inclusive, if she didn't like something, they would bring her a different dish to try. It's a beautiful property however unlike the PP, I felt the room size was a little small. I totally recommend this resort. In fact, were looking to go back. |
We booked Azul through Suzie at vacationkids.com and got two hours of nanny help included daily.
Love Cancun and Playa and we have been going with our kids for the last four years. Not sure what late Feb. means for you, but I just want to mention that spring break season begins the last weekend of Feb., Saturday the 27th. If this is when you are going down, I would pick whichever is the most family friendly and least likely to have rowdy spring breakers.
