Appliances - worth it to join Costco?

Anonymous
There's a few refrigerators I'm eying that Costco has...but I can't see the prices b/c I'm not a member. Are the prices notably better, or just the same as other stores sales? Don't really want to pay $60 just to check.

I just went through this a couple months ago and I think the prices are similar. What made me want to buy from Costco is the assurance that they would correct any issues at any time that I had with the appliances & the free delivery, install & haul away. Just the service.

PS- If you tell me the fridge, I'll log in and check the price

The range I bought was considerably less expensive, and the installation was a breeze.

Do you need it right away, or can you wait for a sale? Would you need anything (if not from the warehouse, from the services) from Costco in the next year?

I was able to purchase a Samsung french door fridge from Best Buy that was discounted with an additional $500 off by showing them Costco's price on the same model. Of course, Costco has to have the same one in stock. I opted for Best Buy since installation was quicker (Costco had a two-week delay for some reason) and 0% financing. IMHO it's still well worth getting the Costco membership for all of the other items they have.

Consider waiting for one of their holiday sales. I saved about $600 off an LG washer / dryer combo by waiting until the July 4th holiday period. The non-sale price was already better than competitors, but only by about $150.

I would think longer term about whether there are other reasons to have a Costco membership. We only go a couple times a year but $60 isn't really that much. We've booked a couple cruises through them too.

We just got our fridge from Costco and between putting it on the card and our Executive Member cash back, it was well worth it. The installers were super nice people too.

Also I’ll add I love our fridge - the water and cubes vs crushed ice options are great. We got an LG.

OP here. Thanks to everyone for their input. After shopping around, I did end up with a Costco membership and one of the two fridges above based on much research of what would work best. To the poster who looked up the prices, I greatly appreciate your help!
