What is your emergency preparedness plan?

What is your and your partner (if applicable) plan on case of terrorist or non weather related emergency plan to get out of the area?

Whomever is closest to daycare heads there then home. Both cars have strollers incase driving isn’t an option.

Other person goes home and packs their car to leave town.
We have a couple hundred in cash at the house.
Important documents are all scanned and stored in the cloud including vet records for our dog. My parents have hard copies of licenses, passports, birth certificates.

Emergency kit still home - flashlight and batteries, sun phone charger, charging cords for phones, water, nonperishable foods, emergency meds for people and dog, dog food, leash, bowls, harness and extra set of tags, first aid kit, phone charger, list of pet friendly hotels in the direction of family who live outside of the DC area, important phone numbers written down - family, banks, power and gas company

Both cars have: diapers, wipes, extra clothes for kid and that adult, sippy cup, toddler food pouches. ((We don’t carry diaper bag each day.))

Ready.gov has a great section on preparing

OMG. I thought we were ahead because we have meeting places set up in case we are separated during a nuclear or military disaster.

Open windows and breathe in deeply. Don’t want to be a leftover.

Head to flyover relatives places. Hunt and fish.

Since 9/11 we always have a stash of cash, water, flashlights/batteries, and extra cell phone battery charger packs. We’re less good about keeping food stockpiled.

We store our overflow of dry and canned goods in the basement?

Nope - just have friends and family who emphasize the preparation. Same plan exists at different levels for fire and natural disasters.

The first part of our plan is the realization that we’re not getting out of the area. Ever been on the Beltway during a snowstorm at rush hour? Or on 270 the Wednesday before Thanksgiving when it’s pouring? Take that and multiply it by a factor of 15.

Figure out how to get your kids and get home. Then hunker down with a bottle of Scotch and either watch the news or just finish the bottle and wait for the inevitable.
