Infertility Support and Discussion
I have a consult set up with Columbia Fertility next week. In the meantime I am supposed to get my hormone levels checked, esp FSH. They said "day 2 or 3". So I think my period will start tonight, Tuesday (sorry if TMI). Does that make Wednesday Day 1? How would I count the days? They are open part of Thursday and Saturday morning, closed Friday. We were thinking of heading out of town this weekend, but if Saturday would give better results I'd skip it. Anyone know? I'll call tomorrow but have found them hard to get through to on the phone. I am really stressed that the "best" day might be Friday. Argh. I am older and stressed about the FSH, don't want it to test "off" because of the holiday. TIA.
Don't start counting days until you have bright red flow. Most REs will tell you to consider it Day 1 if it happens before 4 or 5 pm....i.e. if you start bleeding at 7 tonight, tomorrow is your Day 1. I don't think there is a noticeable difference between doing Day 2 or 3 blood draws.
Thanks, PP. So if the 30th is day 1, 31st day 2 but they re only open in am, is that not enough time? That's like 1 1/2 days. Would Sat am be too late?
Either would be fine. I'd go for Thursday. I've even done it on cd1 when I happened to be in the office anyway, and Dr Sacks was fine with that.
FSH results are essentially stable on days 2, 3, and 4 of a cycle so you should be fine!
I'd also go with Thursday.

Ugh, my cycle is starting late. Maybe the accupuncture is helping with the short luteal phase? Anyway think it will be today or this evening. Will call Columbia, think they are in tomorrow. Otherwise hopefully Monday will be ok too?
|
Ok, my cycle finally started around 3. So today is Day 1. They are only open in the morning tomorrow if I remember right. Is that ok for Day 2? It will only be like 18 hours? Do you count the days kind of by 24 hour cycle or is it just by calendar day? If I go first thing on Monday is that too late or is that really like Day 3? Argh. Anyone know? Anyone who goes to Columbia Fertility know about Saturday hours? I think they said the DC office is open.
The DC office is open every day. They prefer you call in advance, so they have your chart ready. I would leave a message and go into DC tomorrow.
