3 mature follicles on ovary... (TI cycle)

Anonymous
I’m currently on CD15 for a letrozole cycle. On CD12, I had two follicles on my right ovary that were a 14 and a 12 so they had me go back in this morning for another scan.

Well today they are now 17mm, 15mm and there is now also a 12mm. I get a call this afternoon about next steps regarding triggering which will most likely be tomorrow night. The ultrasound tech made a comment about how my dr is probably going to discuss my increased risk of multiples with 3 follicles and mow
I’m nervous.

This is my fourth cycle and besides my first cycle in sept where I had 1 mature follicle on each ovary, I usually only end up with one follicle so the idea of three is freaking me out!

If I trigger tonight or tomorrow, I’m assuming that just the two bigger ones will release as 12mm is still small but I’m worried the trigger will make it catch up?

I'd seriously consider (and discuss with your partner) the risk of multiples. It's a very real risk and you want to decide if that's something you're ok with.

OP here: I’m supposed to trigger tonight. The nurse called me last night to tell me to trigger tonight (Friday) and said that they’d most likely be at a 19mm, 17mm and 14mm tonight when triggering. She said the 19 and 17 will most likely release and the 14 can go either way.

We are fine with twins as we’ve been TTC for 3 years and if we had twins, we’d be done after that. Triplets is what freaks me out but the nurse didn’t act like that would be an issue, just mentioned increase chance of twins.

PP here: I would trigger and go with it then. Triplets is unlikely. Most REs will encourage you to cancel a cycle if they are worried about multiples so hopefully they aren't too concerned. Good luck!

OP, if you don’t mind me asking, which clinic are you at? I’d like to try TI with letrozole.

Not OP, but I did both TI and IUI with letrozole at SG.

Glad you’re being monitored. TI with meds is how all the TLC multiples people got their kids — Kate Gosselin, Busbys from Outdaughtered, family from Sweet Home Sextuplets. Be careful and good luck!

I did TI with letrozole and had 3 follicles measuring at about 15, 18, and 18 if I remember correctly. They counseled me about multiples, too. 28 wks pregnant now with a healthy singleton. Good luck!
