Help! Baby turned to breech position after being head down at 37 weeks :(

Anonymous
Just found out that my baby due mid January turned breech after being head down since 20 weeks. I am 37 ( almost 38) weeks. Please share any tips or tricks to get baby to flip!!!!

Mine did too! I saw a chiropractor (not sure it actually helped) but she flipped back before birth.

Spinning Babies (Google it, plenty you can do) and a chiro trained in Webster technique.

Google.

My first did the same, I googled, and found various things (flashlight, music, pool). It worked for us, and no painful procedures.

Spinning babies and take heart that if the baby can still flip, that means the baby can still flip!

(and if it comes to that, a c-section for position is not the end of the world I promise)

Moxibustion. I was overseas and pregnant with twins. Found out the bottom one was breech at 37 weeks. My doctor - originally from India - suggested swimming and moxibustion. I didn't do the swimming (I was enormous and not getting into a bathing suit!) but I got a moxibustion stick out of curiosity. You basically burn this stick and your DH holds it by your feet. My babies started moving a lot and while they were never able to move enough to avoid a C-section, I have no doubt that if it had been just one, she would have flipped. Weirdest thing ever but worth a try.

ECV (version). Your OB would do it. But only consider it if your OB is experienced with them.

Have you previously delivered vaginally? If so, and the breech is the right kind, breech vaginal delivery could be a possibility with the right OB. But switching practices is probably a bad idea at this point.

If all else fails, a scheduled csection is the best kind of csection. No comparison to people who got an emergency csection halfway through labor. I had one for my first baby, also for breech, and 2 VBACs afterwards. The csection recovery was pretty easy.

My third flipped a few days before my scheduled ECV. She was also head down until about 35 weeks. I put ice packs on the top of my belly and tried to keep moving- and also tried to accept that I may have a very different birth than my previous 2. I remember feeling very uncomfortable one day to the point I was going to go in and that may have been when she flipped. Who knows!

Been there! C section.

Babies can flip even while you are labor. They flip all the time. Look into spinning babies.

Versioning worked for my daughter... But by the time I went into labor, three days later, she'd flipped back and I needed a c-section. Should've gone with more aggressive induction on the day of the versioning, I suppose, but everything wound up fine.
