A friend’s 2003 Toyota was declared totaled. She wants to have it fixed and drive since the damage is to the body only.
Can this car insured after it’s fixed even though the vin number states it’s totaled? |
| Yes plus the pink slip will have it listed as salvaged. Happens all the time. |
|
It's up to insurance and state they're in. In VA, if the damage is 75% of the value of the car, you'll get a check.
If the damage is $13K and the Blue Book value is $15K, then they will cut their losses and give u the money. |
|
Possibly, but it will be classified as a SALVAGED vehicle so she wouldn’t qualify for full-coverage.
Also, her premiums might be higher. Not sure. Could depend on the state. |
| Salvage Title. Happens all the time. I owned/daily drove a Ferrari 512TR that was on a salvage title. Paid $8,000 for it, spent another $14k plus about 200 hrs putting a different motor and transmission in it to make it driveable again. |
| Yes to salvaged title comments above but before you go that way check to see if your insurance company will insure a salvaged car. State Farm would not do it fir my mothers car |
