black mold around window frames?

has anyone else seen black mold around their window frames after the snow storm? is this expected after extreme weather changes, or an indication for more troubles to come?

Yup. We used to get that all the time in the winter. We use Moldex to clean it up and always have a dehumdifier running, and we never have this problem anymore.

Are you sure it's mold and not soot of some sort?

I cleaned it off with straight white vinegar in a spray bottle. I try to dry the frames in the morning. Hasn't come back. (DC has asthma so trying to use the least toxic stuff). TPITA.

We had that - I wiped the frames and sills with clorox bleach and it has not returned.

Yeah, it shows up every winter with the condensation. I just try to keep on top of it -- check the windowsills and wipe it up when I see it. Doesn't seem to be a major problem or spreading or anything.
