I have heard raw pineapple and dates. What else helps? |
You mean to induce? |
Castor oil |
This will just give you diarrhea... |
Nothing works except your body and baby being ready. Now I would be interested in what to eat before going to the hospital to deliver. It'll be a while before I can eat real food. What would you eat for max energy? |
If you're getting an epidural -- especially if you'll have a C-section -- going to the bathroom afterward was so, so hard. It took me days. So I would suggest you eat lots of things that help you poop starting as soon as you deliver. |
dates! |
and after delivery drink prune juice this should help with constipation |
Red raspberry leaf tea brewed fresh (not teabags) and strong. |
This thread is very off topic, OP did not bring up constipation. |
I ate dates, pineapple, and drank red raspberry leaf tea. I also had three membrane sweeps and started “induction” acupuncture at 36 weeks. And it didn’t do a damn thing!
What worked? Pitocin. |
If I recall correctly (and I'm not certain), they asked me not to eat anything red while laboring at home, so that if I threw up during delivery at the hospital, there wouldn't be any confusion as to whether I was vomiting blood. |
My advice to you is to eat things that you enjoy leading up to labor. None of the "special foods" is going to make a difference if your body is not ready and if your body is ready to go into labor, there's very little that you can do to stop that process either. Stay hydrated and well nourished. Once labor starts, depending on hospital protocol, it might be a while before you are permitted/before you want proper food. |
Cheeseburger and fries. |
Whatever you want. It will make no difference. |
