Just curious about the budgets of a club and how much a team actually costs. Basically I have
1 coach @ $15,000 per team 1 asst. coach @ 15,000 per team Practice Field rental @ $150(?) per session Travel costs for coach for tournamnet. Tournament entrance fees @ $1,000 per year Or something like that. Has anyone ever seen the actual costs of running a team? Just kind of curious how it works. |
I have done budgets for teams and I don't remember the details but from memory... coach is about right. No assistant coach. Field rental is about twice as high as you say, three seasons per year. There are county fees. There are League fees. There are State Youth Soccer League fees. Futsal Fees. Tournament fees are like $900-plus PER TOURNAMENT so multiply what you said by 4. Plus the club charges players fees as well. It adds up fast. |

| Most assistants don't get paid and clubs that have paid assists get less than a third of what you have allocated. 15k depends on license and for some clubs it may be too much unless top team w A license. |

You mean that nice gal that sits in the office all day taking calls, handing payment, fielding inquiries and a all of that doesnt get paid? You are kidding right? I think your perception of what it takes to run a club is a bit narrow Assistant doesnt apply to assistant coach its a job that is necessary and covers a lot of tasks and responsibilities that would otherwise go undone |

OP specifically said assistant COACH. I would agree that most assistant COACHES get paid little if at all.
Club STAFF are often paid, although there are a great deal of volunteers as well. |
| Most clubs the assistant coach is actually the head coach for 1 or 2 more teams within the club same goes for the head coach. Most clubs also get a deal on practice field rental rates as the are nonprofits. They also squeeze 9-18 teams in the field space from 5-10pm broken down into 3 segments 3x per week |
And insurance, state association fees, the cost of administration. I was on the board of a large local club. Our travel program lost money. Everything about travel soccer is set up to be expensive, it's incredibly labor-intensive to administer. The rec program floated the boat. |

The way it works each head coach will get 3-4 teams along with 2 assistants who are paid less. Those assistants in turn will get 1-2 head coaching spots to help make them more money nothing crazy about that. but to think they all are volunteers is totally wrong. |
Most assistant coaches have kids playing in the club either on the team they are coaching or on another team in the club. They get paid with free soccer for their kid. Other assistants will usually coach a B or C team at a younger age if they are young coaches and are simply learning on the job. They will be paid for the team that they directly coach but likely assist with other teams. |
