OK -- like most of us, we aren't into concept of guns in our household and don't allow gun toys. but.....laser tag. Are we total hypocrites for thinking this would be a fun Christmas gift for our two boys?
Are there any brands that do not proudly boast of offering different kinds of shot-modes (rocket launcher, machine gun mode and more!) -- I like the idea of essentially a different form of tag, but really want to make it as far removed from a realistic weapon as possible. |
Survey says . . . yes you are. |
No idea if any good or not, but I found this online with wrist-worn zappers instead of guns https://www.sharperimage.com/si/view/product/Battle+Fighters/206091

I think the popularity of Nerf and laser tag guns should show you that not only are you hypocrites, but you are misinformed ones at that. |
If you’re not comfortable with toy guns (as I am not), I’m not sure laser tag is really an appropriate game to be playing at all. The whole point of the game is to “shoot” and “kill” someone. I don’t think that’s appropriate regardless of whether the thing used to do the shooting looks like a gun. I’d rethink this one, OP. |
Most people are not against nerf guns. |
But all people against nerf guns are crazy. |
This is not being contrarian (or meant to be), but is honest.h interesting to me. I’m Canadian, where guns are not “part of life” in the same way they are in the US.
We live on a major park, and I was actually commenting to DH that it’s kind of cool that there is a Nerf “war” almost weekly amongst a group of what looks like about 10 year olds. It’s been quite cold here in the last few weeks (-10C) and the wars still persist. The kids run around for about 2 hours, laughing and getting their willles out. Anyone getting shot down gets recruited by the other team, so no one is ever sitting out. We live where no one will actually have the opportunity, nor the desire to buy a gun later. It’s just fun to play what kind of amounts to a long distance version of tag, with their friends. It’s just interesting to me how the prevalence of guns really changes the perception of things like Nerf. |
+1. |
Listen to your gut, OP. Yes, it would be fun. No, it will not turn them into trained killers. |
