One of the listed side effects of zofran is constipation. Anyone ever have bad constipation show up several days later? DD had a couple doses of Zofran over the weekend and last night had serious constipation (like crying in pain, had to give her a glycerin suppository constipation, which I've never seen with any of my kids before). Not that it matters much - it's better than vomiting - but anyone had that happen days after taking Zofran? Wondering if it's related or if it's just that she hadn't eaten anything with fiber in 5 days. |
Yes. Back in the days where they gave this for pregnancy this happened to me. |
Holy cow, yes. Worst I’ve ever experienced. Good luck! I’m sorry your daughter is experiencing these two extremes. It isn’t fun. |
100% yes (and the lack of regular food with fiber just makes it worse). Next time, ask the ped about giving stool softeners (or at a minimum probiotics) to prevent this. It's tricky if you think diarrhea is going to follow the vomiting, but I would guess that if the vomiting has stopped and it's been 24 hours without diarrhea (or a normal BM) you probably need a stool softener because constipation is coming. |
A few dried apricots, fresh apples as part of her diet along with the zofran should help plus extra fluid...water/lemonade/soup/ etc... |
I get horrible constipation from Zofran last 7-10 days after 24-48 hours of doses. Even worse when I’m taking the Zofran for the stomach flu (vice pregnancy), so I’m eating less and less fiber. |
They still give this for pregnancy, I'm on it right now. |
Yes yes and yes. Took it for hyperemesis gravidarium during pregnancy. One should take colace or miralax when prescribed zofran. |
