Let me start off by saying I KNOW there are lot of threads on gift giving. I am posting this because I want updated answers and haven't found an answer to this particular question.
Do you give individual gifts if you also give to the pooled holiday fund? Our daycare requests each family gives to the fund, and that money is shared among the staff. But I also feel the need to give to the teachers individually. But our budget is limited. What do you do in this situation? |
Our daycare didnt ask for us to contribute to a fund, at first thought I dont like this idea, but then it occurred to me that the teachers in the toddler class have a much lower ratio of kids then the teachers who have the 3s and 4s, so maybe it does make it more fair.
I would maybe still give $10-$25 per teacher to my specific teachers though. In the form of a gift card to somewhere easy like target or amazon |
Our daycare is in home and small so I do $100 per teacher (there are 2 main ones). |
I don't give to the fund because it gets taxed. I just give straight up cash to all the teachers. They are always appreciative. |
No fund. Straight cash, 300 for main teacher, 100 for assistants. |
We contribute generously to the fund and do not do individual gifts. |
Do you then give the teachers thank you cards? I'm not trying to be like George Costanza (have the worker see me put a tip in the tip jar), but I want the teachers to know that I appreciate them and have contributed to the fund....I guess I'm overthinking it... |
I just do the gift fund. I show my appreciation in other ways, but if all parents still did their own thing, it would defeat all the purposes of the gift fund. |
Our class pools money for the two main teachers, and there's a separate pool for floaters/subs. There's a class card as well. I don't plan on doing anything individual. |
I don’t do individual thank you cards. I just effusively thank them in person and wish them happy holidays with their families. You are overthinking it. |
Our gift fund donation is requested at $100. So I do that, and then I write a card and put $20 for each teacher. |
