This is not a troll thread.
The Jamie Raskin thread got me thinking, though. What is the MoCo Executive's deal? He has made more of a name for himself in one year than the more tame, measured and dare I say sleepy Ike Leggett. From the anti-ICE policy his summer to vocally butting heads with Hogan and being outspoken about the Trump administration. He's also made some interesting calculations trying to make overtures to being more pro-business and less NIMBY while also keeping the unions and the social justice people by his side. He's also lost a fair amount of weight. Maybe he wants to run for governor? Honestly, I wonder what his end goal is. If he got his act together and led us out of this budget mess it would be interesting to see. I get that he's 70 years old, but that hasn't stopped Bernie Sanders...or Peter Franchot. Would he actually consider running for a higher office? Nobody stirs up this much controversy just for the hell of it. |

He’s a hot mess. Extraordinarily disorganized. Can’t see the forest for the trees. Hasn’t hired many people who know what they are doing. Some have talent but aren’t from here and don’t know how things work. He can’t get several key director appointments, no matter how hard he tries. He has no ability to build consensus on issues.
He doesn’t understand broader policy. His comment that there’s no need to address employee compensation, which is 80% of the County budget, speaks volumes of his instability to understand the issue. He thinks that enough senior employees will retire and the salary reductions that result as newer, less experienced people take their place, is enough to fix the budget issue. Which is crazy. Well, perhaps he’s just speaking to placate the unions....but I honestly don’t think he gets it. He’s great at disrupting things. Loves his revolutions. But doesn’t understand that the role he has now is meant to make the trains run, not make them derail. He is likely miserable. And would much prefer his old role of disrupter. Which, quite frankly, he was good at. I honestly doubt he will run again. |
| His policies represent those of the new AOC Democratic Party. Nominate him for President. Seems logical based on national politics. |
I disagree with much of this but agree with the bolded. He's like the dog that caught the fire engine. |
He rejected increasing more low income housing in the county. That doesn't sound like the new AOC Dem party. |

Elrich for governor? This has to be a joke.
I couldn't imagine a better gift to Boyd Rutherford or whoever the Republican would be. |
The county is broke. You have an extra room, no? |
