Nanny has been with us 4 1/2 months. What do you think is appropriate for holiday bonus? Is one weeks pay really necessary? |
That is what I did. I did it when my nanny had only been in my employ for a month and a half. |
We do a day of pay per month they've worked. So if you'd do 4.5 day of pay you may as well round up to a week. |
Can you afford it? If so, give the week. I'll never understand trying to skimp with the people who take care of your child. |
You cant afford a nanny if you cant tip appropriately. |
1 week's pay is definitely customary. If it was 4 weeks, I'd give you a pass. But not for 4 months. Sorry. |
You sound like someone who has no clue how boring it can be to care for your child. Stop being so selfish, and show her your gratitude. |
One weeks pay is standard - nothing lower and many give two weeks. You need to begin as you mean to continue and give regardless of it not being a full year. We gave two weeks after just 4 months and have continued giving two weeks to our nanny for five years. |
![]() You’re ridiculous. |
Presumably she's going to be with you long term so her gift should reflect that. |
Begin as you mean to continue. Gifts should never be pro-rated anyway. |
Ah this recurrent poster has turned up again. "You can't afford a nanny if you don't XYZ" Super helpful and insightful. Thanks. |
Our nanny has been with us for 3/4 of the year so we are giving her 3/4 of a week’s pay. Our nanny agency advised us that this is a standard move. |
I think your agency is wrong. As stated above, a GIFT shouldn’t be prorated. I hope your nanny stays with you. |
A gift doesn’t have to be monetary either. |
