Will MU make it past this spring?

Showcase results not pretty. Records not pretty across all age groups -- a few bright spots here and there but nothing to write home about. Will US Soccer pull the plug, or will the remaining players who have a chance of playing elsewhere start showing up elsewhere?

What is MU?

It's the new DA club that took over in place of Spirit VA. Some changes and new players and coaches, but a lot of the players and coaches from last year.

What US Soccer will likely look for is improvement compared to last year and also what MU has done to improve that may not be quantifiable. It does have some work to do, but I wouldn't say it's completely without bright spots.

And yet Arlington comes in and is performing fairly well -- how long do you get a pass for "improvement"?

And yet I am pretty sure you got plenty of passes in the course of your life and career. You might give some kids a break in soccer that you probably got during the course of your mediocre education. They are probably better at soccer than you were at school.

Arlington was an established club for years and years. MU has had to pick up the mess that Spirit created and left behind and clean it up.

Pretty eager to see Metro fold I see.

I don't get why people are so eager to see MU fail. It has made changes, improved, and has signs it will continue to improve. And it's not like every other club in Nova is a stand out. Besides, even the really good clubs in the area have gone to national events and had poor results. And

Reason one is because the GDA and WS came in and plopped themselves down right in between three high level clubs, FCV, McLean, and BRYC. It has diluted all 3 clubs but primarily the latter two.

Reason two is WS really flailed spectacularly in trying to establish partnerships with local clubs. It has been laughable.

Reason three is the arrogance exhibited by a handful of Spirit and now MU loyalists on this board.

Reason four is the management and performance of the team under Spirit and MU banners has been poor.

Gee. How dare people try to challenge. How dare they fail. How dare they dare. How dare you care. How does this affect you at all as an adult who should aspire to be higher-functioning?

1. MU has diluted McLean and BRYC? Other than the 05s, who left McLean to leave McLean, how did MU dilute those clubs? If MU is so weak, how is it truly a threat?

2. How can anyone credibly complain about dilution to the ECNL by MU with Loudoun and VDA as new ECNLs?

3. There are always a few arrogant people in every club. MU is not special for that. However, to punish the many for the acts of 2-3 (which is all it seems to be) is unfair to say the least. Most MU parents are decent people looking for a good environment for their kids.

4. I disagree that there is a general failing in management and performance. There are some gaps and some strengths. Some teams have shown significant traction as the season has gone on. The only surprise to me is probably the 05s. That team has greater capacity than its results. It probably needs a change of direction. But in general the teams are having overall better score lines. In the past, there were blow out games. That has vastly improved.

The club is better than last year in every way. Even the scores for those who know nothing more shows big improvement. Very doubtful US Soccer will allow this part of NoVA to go without a USSDA team.

None of the MU teams are in last place in their divisions. Close, but not last.

By “this part of NOVA” you mean the beltway part between Arlington and FCV? The part where the ECNL teams of Mclean and BRYC sit? I actually think the DA would be better off without MU. Then Arlington and FCV could absorb any high-level players — half go west to FCV and half go east to Arlington, if they don’t want to stay closer to home and go to BRYC or Mclean — and the mid-Atlantic could be more competitive with other regions.
