Infertility Support and Discussion
| Infertility treatment is the worst thing I have ever experienced, and my doctor is a creep. |
| Time for a new doctor then? Good luck and try not to get discouraged. |
| I'm at Shady Grove and I have seen 5 doctors during my last cycle and my primary guy is the worst, I'm seen at Rockville which is the center of everything so I don't know where I could go if this next cycle is as bad as the first. |

You do have control (or at least some!) -- take charge and stand up for yourself! I saw Dr. Chang at SG and he was great. My DH and I made it a point to schedule consults with him regularly, so we could discuss our plans, results, etc., and did this all throughout our treatment cycles. In the end, it was not a lot of extra time and money; and, it was a huge help, and made me feel like I was more than a stat there. It got my doc's attention, too, and I think he focused more on my case. In all, had a great results -- have a beautiful child now.
Go for it, and good luck! |

Hi OP,
I know exactly how you feel; I have been to four different clinics before things worked out. I spent thousands of dollars (I am in so much debt) with no luck. To me, some of the doctors certainly felt creepy, others felt more like money hungry businessmen. I felt things can not possibly get any worse, but they did with each failed cycle. Just hang in there, and feel free to change clinics and/or doctors. When you are actually having the procedure, try to be as relaxed as possible, think positive thoughts, and don’t let your fear take over. Wish you the best. |

I went to Shady Grove in Rockville and everyone was excellent. Where do you go?
I agree, infertility is horrendous. BUT, have hope and try to see it through. When you get pregnant you will forget all this. PROMISE! |
| There are lots of great REs out there--if you are creeped out by doc--definitely switch. There is no way around the meds and all the discomforts, but it is so worth it--I have two extraordinary, healthy and beautiful children because of it. |
| Switch docs or at least go interview a few others--love Dr. Sacks at Columbia Fertility--I think they have other locations than just DC. |
| OP - sorry to hear how you're feeling. Yes, IF sucks and IF treatments are the worst. I've done 14 IUIs and 1 IVF cycle. I have a beautiful baby boy, and am now pregnant with twins. It'll all be worth it in the end. I saw Dr. Chang in the SG Rockville office, and love him. He's not touchy-feely, but he's professional, smart, thorough, and a great listener. He always returned calls promptly. I would talk with your nurse and definitely seek a different RE in the practice if you are not happy. Good luck! |
