What’s your experience with the Volvo XC90?

I see them all over the place, and I like the way they look, but a 4 cylinder engine seems underpowered. Do you feel that you don’t get good pick up when you need it? Do you have problems with the car? I don’t hear that Volvo is a good car, but then I see 15 a day.

No experience with it but I feel that it's for people who want a luxury three row SUV without being associated with the Audi/BMW crowd.

Interesting, I see almost no moms driving around in Audi or BMWs. I don't really see any BMW SUVs anymore and maybe a few days with BMW sedans and a bunch of Q5s and a few Q7s. Seems to be all Volvo, Mercedes, Acura or minivan.

The people in my crowd who have them lease them. I love them, but we keep our cars about 8 years and the reliability scared me off when we recently bought an SUV. I really tried to convince myself to buy one, but, while I don't mind spending a lot of money on a car, I don't want to spend a ton on maintenance and upkeep, or deal with the hassle. I went with the Subaru SUV instead, and even that was pushing me out of my reliable Toyota/Lexus comfort zone.

They’re a Volvo. Meaning you already KNOW not to keep it past the warranty because they’re garbage and will nickel and dime you to death on maintenance.

So funny. I’m in the VA burbs and the Q7 is super popular with the “never minivan” moms.

Husband has an XC90 and loves it. Doesn't have any problems with acceleration - the engine is both supercharged and turbocharged and that gives it enough power. I haven't driven the XC90 very often, but when I did, it felt good to me, and I normally drive a smaller SUV with a V6 engine.

Like another poster noted, we're leasing ours, since we don't want to deal with repair issues once it's out of warranty.

I have a 2005 XC90. Yep, 2005. After almost 15 years, we’ve had the normal repairs and replacements, but it’s still going strong

x a million. the audi and bmw are nearly ubiquitous (required) for the Arlington and FFX McMansion/Craftsman homeowners

I felt it had a very small third row, tight interior quarters, a gorgeous console, overly complicated technology screen, nice interior touches, and pretty cool safety features.

I have a newly leased Volvo XC90 Hybrid and its fast as shit. (I had an XC90 before this with the Pulsar add-on, so that was very fast too.) The onboard electronics are irritating in some ways (not all) But its a beautiful car, drives so smoothly (air-suspension) has temp-controlled seats, massaging seats that are actually kinda nice. Its just a really nice car and I feel super safe in it. Any other car that I might tap is gonna come away worse off than my Volvo.

PP here. And "yes" my T8 definitely has powerful pick-up.

People who buy Volvos buy them because they know they are horrible drivers.
