She seems full of energy when she wakes up, wakes on her own at a reasonable hour, gets her normal amount of sleep. Maybe she's having a growth spurt? Stalling about going to school? Confusing tiredness with the Monday blues or something? I really don't think it's anemia, but she'll have her yearly physical pretty soon so I can have them check. Anyone else experience this with your preschooler and get to the bottom of it? |
Is this new or has she always done this? |
Does anyone in your house regularly complain of being tired in the morning? She may just be parroting something she hears and thinks she 'should' be in the morning. |
So move her bedtime back to allow her to get more sleep and see if that changes anything.
My guess is that she's probably trying to get attention and/or repeating things she's heard from others. My 3.5yo often complains about her back hurting and will then do the same stretch she sees my DH doing. |
My toddler was mocking DH and I! We quickly stopped mentioning our constant state of tiredness and so did she! |
My DS, now 6, has always complained of being tired, off and on. Early in the morning and throughout the day. He was eventually diagnosed with a medical condition that impacts energy levels that is treatable, to some extent.
Does she snore? How is her overall stamina? |
Thanks all. This is new, but she was overdue to drop her nap for a while and was in that "nap then 10:30 pm bedtime" cycle until she stopped napping completely a few months ago. So possibly related to that? She does quiet time at school and home, but sometimes is overtired by evening. She snores when congested, but not always. Her overall stamina seems good, doesn't tire out before her friends during physical play or anything like that.
I guess she could be parroting. I'll pay attention to our speech in the morning and see if we talk about being tired more than we realize. |
