At what price point do you just give one gift for two siblings? (Relatives)

| I am not sure it's a matter of a price point. The question is: Does it make sense? Is it truly a gift for two siblings or is it really a gift for one of them, where the other may play with it (use it) occasionally when (s)he is playing with the other sibling. Crowd sourcing the price point is useless. Ultimately, it has to be something that you are comfortable with. As a rule of thumb: add what you would have spent (did spend last year) on individual presents. Et voila! |

| I have 4 sets of families I buy gifts for, 3 where the kids are very close in age. I have sometimes bought a larger combined gift that suits all the kids in family that no way would be in budget for just one of them (if needing to get 2nd or 3rd kid a gift too.) The 4th family the kids are 5 years apart and as of yet there's not been a gift that would span interest for that age gap. |

| I spend 40 per kid so for a family with 3 kids I would look in the 120 range. This year I am going in with my sister and buying our 3 nieces a playstation. It was 199.00 and my other sister is single and usually has 20 per kid to spend so we took my 120 and her 60 and was basically there. I added like 17 extra dollars but still within my normal range! |

If I do a combined gift, I also do an individual gift. So, if I see something I know my relatives would like, I divide the cost by the number of kids, subtract it from the individual budget to get the new max for individual gifts.
Ex: $30/kid budget, and I think three kids would like a $15 game $15/3=$5 $30-$5=$25. That’s enough for a decent gift each. $30/kid, 2 kids, $40 LEGO set $40/2=$20 $30-$20=$10 So, I’d likely do something small for each child, like a generic Barbie, small LEGO set, etc. |
