Tiers Vs. Stars

| What’s the difference? How can the same school be Tier 1 but get 3 stars? What do parents rate higher? Do public schools get Tier Ratings or is it just charters? Please offer some clarity. |

Only charters get tiers. There are only three tiers but you can get five stars, so that is a major difference. Only the very worst schools are Tier 3, so really it's more like having only two tiers.
If you look at the criteria you will see there are different inputs and weighting. I would suggest you drill down to the metrics that are most important to you, so that you can weight them more heavily. Also, foe charters, check out the QSRs as they can be eye-opening. |
