Brown boots with grey dress?

I'm trying to figure out what to wear to a dinner tonight. I lent my black boots to my sister, so I just have my brown boots. I have a charcoal grey dress that I love and really want to wear. Can I wear them with my brown boots or do I need to just suck it up and wear black heels?

I think it depends what color brown. I'm not a big fan of gray and brown together, but it might depend on the shades. Too late now, I guess. Did you wear it?

I ended up not wearing it together. When I put it on, the brown boots with the dress just seemed too cowboy bootish to me. And they aren't cowboy boots at all. Just something about the look was off. I just have to snag my black boots back from my sister because they are going to look great with this dress!
