DC Scores is a great program. If you missed them on giving Tuesday it's not too late.

I've been volunteering as a ref with DC scores for a little while now and it's awesome watching the growth in these kids from season to season and watching the soccer culture blossoming in neighborhoods where basketball and American football used to be the only sports.

If you play soccer as an adult, sign your team up for their tournament fundraiser next spring, loads of fun and a great way to support the program and help keep it free for the participants.

I know the DC Scores peeps and it’s an amazing organization supported by DC United. The org is frequently mentioned at DCU matches

Saw City Lax a few years ago, same type of thing, kids without access to coaching, fields and teams were given access and the landscape changed.

Inner city kids who never picked up a stick and became incredible lacrosse players, both male and female. The best part was the preppy white kids who beat them by 20 in their first game were the No 1. ranked team at the state tournament at the end of the year and faced the city kids again. I think you know how it ended. Chad, Brad, and Thad went home in tears and the success these kids have had on and off the field is amazing,. Many have gone on to great schools and continued their playing days and getting great educations.

PG County recently started lacrosse and the Montgomery county boys and girls are about to realize that their money only goes so far.

The same is going to happen on the soccer field-hopefully.

Speaking of documentaries, … I just turned on NewsChannel8 and tonight's SportsTalk is covering a new soccer documentary that premiered this week. Parts of "Soccer in the City" were filmed in DC, as well as in other cities on the east coast, and even Paris.

I'm hoping to spend 80 minutes some time soon to watch this on Amazon Prime:

Has anyone heard anything good about DC Scores (https://www.dcscores.org/) or America Scores? Prior to today, I hadn't heard of them.

I think this episode of SportsTalk will be replayed tonight at 11:30PM.

Thank you for mentioning this Amazon film. Just watched, and loved, it!

I'm watching-- it is a weird mix of virtue signaling from donors, and effective programming with kids with real talent. I also recognize at least one of the DC based coaches who has moved on from DC scores, so before I (virtual signaling awareness) donate, is it better to put my resources in that organization or another?
