finding / testing a new (S/N) babysitter December 30/31

Our great nanny is taking off December 30/31 for a vacation. My husband and I have jobs without set hours but were hoping to work some of those days. I was thinking it would be a good time to test out a new sitter since we wouldn't be far from hom/could come back in case of problems.
My kids are 4 and 7, 7 year old is moderate-high functioning ASD but with some behaviors. Any suggestions about how to find a new babysitter / whether this is an ok idea? I realize finding a new babysitter is not rocket science, except for DS and I don't 'know many parents with kids like DS so not sure who to ask for referrals. Thank you for any advice! |

| Agency, trial someone prior to nanny going on vacation. |

| Have you asked around at any social skills groups? A young OT or something? Ask as, “Do you know anyone who babysits SN kids?” |

| Call U of MD - their education department and speech pathology and related areas and see if they advertise for babysitters. |
